Breathalyzers and alcohol testing
A professional breathalyzer must perform several functions easily and accurately producing unquestionable results. This is from the sensor technology, the simplicity of operation and clarity of read out.
Technology. There are chemical tests that show crystals change colour in a glass tube when blown through, the old "blow in the bag". Then the commonly advertised cheap end electronic devices that "burn off" part of the sensor every time it is used and by definition become less accurate each time. Following this are the new generation of digital read out, police road side type breathalyzers using very accurate calibrated sensors. Finally the large police station machines used as evidence in court for drink drive prosecutions.
The first two are simply not accurate enough and would not be accepted in arbitration. The final "court evidential" machine is tens of thousands of pounds and requires professional operation. This leaves the police road side device.
The latest generations with digital read out using Home Office approved type technology are now a sensible price. If within the 6 month recalibration, can be used for employee screening and are accepted in arbitration. They also offer new features specifically for work place use like passive measurement.
6510 Passive and Active Breathalyzer
The 6510 is one button operated and takes a passive reading by pressing the button whilst the employee is speaking at the device. The read out is "No Alcohol" or "Alcohol". If no alcohol, the employee returns to work 5 seconds later with zero cost. If there is Alcohol, then in a private office, install a disposable tube and perform the "deep breath and blow". If this reading is above the company specified limit, wait exactly 20 minutes and repeat the test. All read outs are recorded on a form and counter signed by employee, tester and any witnesses. This second reading is used for disciplinary procedures. Download manufacturer's brouchure
6810 Passive and Active Breathalyzer with out put to Printer.
The 6810 is as per the 6510 but with slightly higher spec software and ability to out put to the printer. This function makes the 6810 and printer, more than twice the price of the 6510. Download manufacturer's brouchure
